Is the shift schedule generator really free?
Yes. Generating your schedule, viewing it, printing it, and exporting a single person calendar to PDF, image or a shareable link are free for everyone, with no account and no time limit. The Free experience is supported by clearly labelled ads. Pro removes website ads and the small "Made with ShiftScheduleUp" PDF footer, and unlocks calendar, email, CSV and Insights exports.
Do I need an account?
No. The free tool needs no signup at all. If you choose Monthly, Yearly or Lifetime Pro, you create a free account during checkout so your access is tied to your email.
What do I actually pay for?
Only optional Pro extras: an ad-free website, removing the PDF watermark, full year and CSV or Excel export, bulk export of saved schedules, calendar export and live sync, downloadable Insights, personal earnings, team labor planning, the team roster, optional time-off and balance planning, priority support, and unlimited saved schedules. The core schedule for one person is always free and ad-supported.
What is the difference between Monthly, Yearly and Lifetime Pro?
The features are identical. Monthly Pro is $4.50 per month for maximum flexibility. Yearly Pro is $25 per year and saves about 54% compared with paying monthly for a year. Lifetime Pro is one $49 payment with no renewal.
Can I manage multiple teams or departments?
Yes. Pro supports up to 20 user-named departments and 50 active people. People can belong to more than one department. You can build separate duty rotations, compare planned hours and workload by department, review coverage and availability warnings, add optional private labor-cost and budget assumptions, create department-scoped read-only links, and export roster, duty, and labor reports.
Are team labor costs payroll calculations?
No. Team labor figures are private planning estimates based only on the schedules, duties, rates, premiums, and budgets you enter. They do not calculate taxes, benefits, breaks, local labor-law rules, or authoritative payroll. Always verify actual pay with your payroll system or adviser.
Does Time Off replace payroll or HR software?
No. Pro Time Off is an optional manager planning and recordkeeping workspace for leave types, balances, accrual rules, schedule impact, and exports. It is not a time clock, payroll processor, legal-compliance engine, leave approval system, or medical-record system. Managers should verify policies and balances against their official company and payroll records.
Can I cancel a Monthly or Yearly subscription?
Yes. Monthly and Yearly Pro renew automatically and can be cancelled from your dashboard. You keep Pro until the end of the period already paid for. Lifetime Pro is a one-time purchase with nothing to renew or cancel.
