Choose Your Mode
ShiftScheduleUp offers two ways to build your shift calendar: Preset Patterns and Custom Patterns.
Preset Patterns
12+ built-in rotation patterns ready to go. Includes 2-2-3, DuPont, Pitman, 4-on-4-off, 24/48, 48/96, Kelly, Continental, 4-on-2-off, DDNNOO, 5-5-4, and 3-2-2-3. Just pick one, set your start date, and generate.
Custom Pattern
Build any rotation by chaining work and off segments. Define your own cycle length, shift labels, and colors. Perfect for non-standard schedules or testing new rotations before rolling them out.
Select a Shift Pattern
Open the pattern dropdown in the shift schedule generator and choose the rotating shift schedule that matches your workplace.

Set Your Start Date and Team
Configure when your rotation cycle begins and which team you belong to.
Date Picker
Select the date your rotation cycle starts. This is the anchor point for the entire calendar — all shifts are calculated from this date forward.
Team Selection
Choose your team (A, B, C, or D). Each team starts at a different offset in the rotation, so your calendar reflects your actual shifts, not someone else's.
First Day of Week
Set whether your calendar week starts on Monday or Sunday. This changes the column layout of the calendar grid to match your preference.
Number of Months
Choose how many months to generate — from 1 month up to a full year. More months give you a longer planning horizon for vacations and personal events.
Generate and Read Your Calendar
Once generated, your shift calendar displays a color-coded monthly grid with all the information you need at a glance.
Calendar Color Legend
Each month shows a stats bar with your total work days, off days, and hours. Click any day to open a popover with shift details, override options, and notes.
Using Custom Shift Patterns
Build any rotation you can imagine with the custom shift pattern generator. Chain work and off segments to create your exact cycle.
Add Schedule Rows
Each row defines a segment: set the number of work days and off days. Rows chain sequentially — Row 1 runs first, then Row 2, and so on, repeating from the start.
Set Labels and Colors
Give each row a custom label (e.g., "Day Shift", "Night Shift") and pick a color. These appear on the calendar so you can tell segments apart at a glance.
Generate Your Custom Calendar
Click Generate and your custom shift schedule appears. Export, print, or share it just like any preset pattern.
💡 Example: Row 1: 2 work / 2 off + Row 2: 3 work / 3 off = a 10-day cycle. The shift pattern calculator handles all the math for you.
Day Overrides and Custom Hours
Need to swap a shift or mark a vacation day? Override any day on your calendar without changing the whole pattern.
Override Shift Type
Click any day to open the popover. Mark it as Work Day, Night Shift, or Day Off — this overrides the pattern for that specific day only.
Edit Shift Hours
Change the hours for any individual day directly in the popover. Useful for partial shifts, overtime, or training days.
Reset Overrides
Changed your mind? Reset any overridden day back to the original pattern with one click.
Personal Notes
Add personal events or notes to any day. Great for tracking appointments, meetings, or reminders alongside your shift schedule.
Customization Options
Tailor every aspect of your shift calendar to match your needs and preferences.
General Settings
Schedule name, first day of week (Monday/Sunday), and number of months to generate.
Color Settings
Customize colors for work days, night shifts, off days, and the today highlight. Make your calendar visually yours.
Public Holidays
25+ countries supported. Enable holidays for your country and they appear on the calendar in green, so you know when you're working a holiday.
Shift Hours
Auto-detect hours from the pattern, or manually set them: 6h, 8h, 10h, 12h, or 24h. This affects statistics and salary calculations.
Salary Calculator
Enter your hourly rate, night differential, and overtime settings. The shift planner calculates your earnings per month and year.
Exporting Your Shift Calendar

How to Add Your Shift Schedule to Google Calendar
Generate your shift calendar using the free shift schedule generator.
Click "Export .ICS" in the toolbar to download the calendar file.
Open Google Calendar and click the + next to "Other calendars" in the left sidebar.
Select "Import" and upload the .ICS file you downloaded.
Your shifts appear as color-coded events. Works the same way with Apple Calendar and Outlook.
Statistics Dashboard
Get deep insights into your shift schedule with the built-in statistics panel.
Full Statistics View
Click the Statistics button in the toolbar to open the dashboard. See summary cards, monthly hours bar chart, shift distribution donut chart, work streaks, monthly comparison table, and holiday summary.
Monthly Statistics
Click the chart icon on any month header to see that month's breakdown: work/off split, total hours, night shifts, and weekend work ratio.
Download Stats PDF
Export your statistics as a PDF report. Useful for tracking hours, planning overtime, or sharing with your supervisor.

Estimate your earnings
Enable the salary calculator in settings. Enter your hourly rate and night differential to see estimated monthly and annual earnings based on your shift schedule.
Print a year-at-a-glance
Generate 12 months, then use the Print button for a clean printable layout. Tape it to your fridge, locker, or break room wall.
